Before Installing Windows Vista Service Pack 1 SP1

Before Installing Windows Vista Service Pack 1 SP1

Read this before you install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 RC

1. If you install Windows Vista and then install the Vista SP1 RC without first activating Windows Vista, you might not be able to uninstall the service pack. Either activate Windows Vista before you install SP1 or activate SP1 before you attempt to uninstall the service pack.

2. Nokia PC Suite and Exceed PowerSuite 2006 are not compatible with Vista Service Pack 1 RC.

3. When you install this Windows Vista service pack on a computer with low available disk space, the installer may delete previous System Restore points and shadow copies. This means that you may not be able to revert to the exact state of the computer prior to installing the service pack and that previous versions of files may not be available.

4. In some cases, computers that use multiple monitors may display black screens when the display mode is changed after resuming from sleep. This issue can also affect laptop computers connected to an external monitor.

find your friend on the internet

Want to find your friend on the internet ? how do you do it? You must have surely tried Google search of his name and your try must have been in vain.

When I was faced with the same problem of poeple search, I found a site called www.PIPL.com

PIPL is surely the best people search engne on the net as far as i know. All you have to do is to enter your friend's name , location.

Unlike most search engines, Pipl crawls the Deep Web. A general purpose search engine typically crawls the Web by following links to URLs found in other pages. By contrast, the Deep Web is made up of pages that no other pages link to. Dynamic pages are a good example of these sorts of pages. This means that if an engine wants to index pages located in Deep Web repositories it has to “guess” possible URLs. Just how big is the Deep Web? No one really knows but it’s generally accepted that it is vastly greater (orders of magnitude greater) than the Surface Web—the pages which are easily indexed by search engines.

how to install any version of Windows 7

How to install Premium / Professional / any version of Windows 7?

Now that the buzz around is all about the lighter, faster, eye candy OS Windows 7 Release Candidate, you might have downlaoded the more than 2GB file of the OS.

But while installing, by default the Ultimate version of Windows 7 is installed which is not recommended for home users in case the system has lower specs. It is better trying the lower versions like Windows 7 Premium or Professional which will be much faster and lighter on a low end system.

1) Extract all contents of the ISO to a folder on the desktop, Mount it with VirtualCloneDrive or use 7-Zip to open the ISO up then copy all the files into the folder.

2) Browse into the folder where you extracted all the files to and open up the /sources/ folder and locate ei.cfg.

3) At this point, you have two options:

1. Delete: If you delete this file, it will give you options on which version you want to install during installation.
2. Edit: If you edit this file, you can set which version of Windows you want it to install automatically.

If you chose to EDIT the file, just open the ei.cfg file in notepad and edit:

Change the word to Ultimate or any other version you would like to install.

* Ultimate
* Professional
* HomePremium
* HomeBasic
* Starter

How to Use Capslock key for text navigation

How to Use Capslock key for text navigation ?

Well here is a way to make use of the CAPSLOCK key on the keyboard to help navigate while editing text.

Caps Lock key can be used to toggle keys on the front row for navigation instead of having to constantly reach for the arrow keys—so you hold down Caps Lock and use J, K, L, I to move the cursor Left, Down, Right, and Up.

You can create shortcuts that simulate Home, End, and even copy/paste—might be a little complicated to learn at first, but once you get used to it, you might just be sold on the idea.

The Hand Friendly Navigation script is a free download for Windows, requires AutoHotkey.

You can create shortcuts of your own wish (need not be only capslock key) which eases your work.

The list of functions includes:

Normal usage with capslock as a modifier:
j: left
k: down
l: right
i: up
h: simulates CTRL+left (jumps to the next word)
รถ: simulates CTRL+right (commented out, you will need to adjust for your keyboard layout)
,: simulates CTRL+Down
8: simulates CTRL+Up
u: simulates "Home" (jumps to the beginning of the current line) (i forgot to mention this in my comment)
o: simulates "End"
Backspace: simulates "Delete"
b: cut
c: copy
v: paste

If you keep pressing Alt in addition to Capslock it works as if you are pressing "Shift" --> you highlight the text. Shift + Capslock activates the actual Capslock functionality (normal capslock-hitting deactivates it again).
