Following the concept of Cyber Monday in the United States, Google India will be organizing a one day online shopping festival on December 12th, 2012 - called Great Online Shopping Festival in partnership with more than 50 e-Commerce, online travel and other websites in India.
What is Cyber Monday ?
Cyber Monday (the day on which many electronic gadgets and other items are offered at discounted prices) is a Monday following the Black Friday (the Friday after Thanksgiving) in the United States. It is a marketing term created in 2005 to persuade customers to spend online.
In 2011, Cyber Monday saw a total sales of US$1.2billion which is a 22% increase over the previous year’s spending. (source).
The concept has been taken up by several other countries like UK, Canada, Australia, Japan etc. Now it is the time for India.
